#Doha2019: USA’s Grant Holloway takes 110 hurdles as McLeod crashes out
Grant Holloway of the United States of America won the men’s 110 metres hurdles at the World Championships in Doha, Qatar Wednesday (Oct 2) as Jamaica’s defending champion Omar McLeod crashed out at the final hurdle.
Holloway and McLeod were the best starters and ran away from the rest of the pack early with Holloway slightly ahead. McLeod increased his pace in the middle of the race to join Holloway, but trying to move ahead, he clipped hurdle eight and despite being off-balance tried to continue to the end.
McLeod managed to jump hurdle nine but crashed into the tenth and final hurdle and landed on the ground.
Holloway hurdled smoothly to the finish line to complete the race in 13.10 seconds, with Sergey Subenkov (the Russian who ran unattached) finishing second in 13.15. Pascal Martinot-Lagarde of France came third in 13.18.
