PEOPLE’S National Party president Dr Peter Phillips yesterday expressed sadness at the death of former St James West Central Member of Parliament Patrick Rosegreen.

Rosegreen died Monday after a long period of illness.

The late MP also served as councillor in the St James Parish Council, representing the Spring Gardens Division between 1986 and 1989. He contested the 1989 General Elections and won the St James West Central constituency, serving the Lower House for two terms until 1997.

Rosegreen’s daughter, Avrie followed in her father’s footsteps into politics, serving as councillor for the Mount Salem Division between 2007 and 2014.

Dr Phillips described Rosegreen as a loyal Comrade who was committed to service above self, and, was a good representative of his people in Parliament.

“He was an MP who represented the people of West Central St James with enthusiasm and integrity, and always spoke up strongly on issues affecting the poor. He was a man with a vibrant personality who would go beyond the call [of] duty in service to his family, his country and his party. For Patrick, illness was not an excuse; as his was always a positive response to his constituents, his party or his country. For many, he was a friend who was like family,” Dr Phillips said.
