FOR stirs up UWI
MISSION accomplished! That is what the promoters of the inaugural staging of the party series FOR are reporting.
The event unfolded last Friday night inside Students Union at The University of the West Indies Mona campus in St Andrew. It attracted a bumper-sized crowd.
“The crowd comprised mainly of university students, both current and recent graduates. We also had a contingent of persons over 30 years of age, who came out to enjoy the proceedings. After all, it was an event FOR everyone,” co-promoter Malique Bignall, management studies major, told the Jamaica Observer.
He added: “The highlight of the party happened close towards the end, when the DJ gave the female patrons what they have been continuously complaining about, not enough songs being played that they could dance to. Almost everyone was in a dancing mood at that moment, and many of them expressed their satisfaction verbally after the event.”
The night’s presentation was further enhanced with the musical selections of a diverse and energetic crop of selectors, including Team Shella, King Taj, Chromatic Live, and Kevstar Universe.
“The DJs played a variety of genres of music, including dancehall, R&B, soca and hip-hop. All in all, it was an enjoyable event,” said Bignall.
With corporate support from Rumbar Gold, FOR is set to return in 2020.
