Two men on firearm charges in Kingston and Ocho Rios
KINGSTON, Jamaica — Two men have been charged in relation to the seizure of a firearm and several rounds of ammunition in two separate incidents over the past week.
On Sunday, October 13, a man was charged after two magazines with 14 rounds of ammunition were seized at the Norman Manley International Airport in Kingston.
Charged is 22-year-old Kyle Wieganol, a salesman of Feopor, Indiana in the United States.
Reports are that about 11:10 am, baggage at the area for outgoing flights was searched and the magazines were detected.
In the other incident, the Ocho Rios Police arrested 41-year-old Ricky Samms of Upton, St Ann in relation to the seizure of a firearm and several rounds of ammunition during a search of a motor vehicle on Monday, October 14.
Reports from the police are that about 12:30 pm, in furtherance of a robbery investigation, the Caribbean Search Centre was contacted and a motor vehicle that was seized in connection with the probe was searched. During the search, a Walther P99 pistol with a magazine containing fifteen 9mm rounds of ammunition was found.
Samms was subsequently arrested and charged for illegal possession of firearm and ammunition.
