Kanye Sunday Service raking in over US$1 million revenue for Jamaica
Minister of Culture Olivia “Babsy” Grange has confirmed that, while the Sunday Service concert is being staged at no cost to the Jamaican Government, the concert producers have paid out just over a million U.S. Dollars.
Minister Grange pointed out that many of the technical and other services related to the show are being provided by local suppliers and so the Jamaican entertainment sector is benefiting substantially. This includes substantial media exposure for Jamaica, since this is the first Sunday Service event to take place outside the United States.
The costs covered by Kanye’s
team include air charters and hotel accommodation for around 175 people, as
well as facilities provided for at Emancipation Park.
The Kingston & St. Andrew
Corporation has made its four parking lots in New Kingston available as well as
the National Housing Trust, Golf Academy and the Ranny Williams Entertainment
Centre. The Jamaica Constabulary Force
is on hand to address all traffic concerns.
