Camperdown lead Holy Trinity 2-0 at half time of Manning Cup match
Camperdown
were leading Holy Trinity 2-0 at halftime in their ISSA/Digicel Manning Cup
match inside the National Stadium on Saturday.
Camperdown got the goals through Tivelle Edwards in the 17th minute and an 18th-minute penalty converted by Jeovanni Laing.
Should the
score remain the same at the end of the match Camperdown will win the two-leg
tie 2-0 on aggregate, after the midweek first-leg drew 0-0.
It would
also have Camperdown advancing to the quarter-final round of the tournament, as
well as the Champions Cup. Holy Trinity will have to play for the consolation
Walker Cup.
Camperdown, kicking towards the hills, pressured their opponents for most of the half and opened the scoring when the Holy Trinity defence handled a free-kick from the left improperly.
The ball
fell to Edwards on the fringes of the six-yard box at the far post, and he
placed the ball inside the netting on the post where it came from.
Camperdown immediately won the ball back at the restart and launched an attack, with Shaquille Bradford being fouled inside the area from which Laing converted from the penalty spot.
