Wow Wow, the bred and owned bay colt of Michros continues to prove invincible among his fellow juvenile rivals with another flawless victory in the 15th running of the Cash Pot “Only One For Me” Trophy at Caymanas Park on Saturday, October 26.

Wow Wow levelled the Graded Stakes field of six native-bred two-year-olds by another eight lengths to win the event in a time of 1:12.3 going 1,200 metres with fractions of 22.3 by 46.0 flat with jockey Ameth Robles for trainer Gary Subratie.

Wow Wow in winning his fifth race in succession has now accumulated a winning margin of 40 lengths or eight lengths per race.

Following the victory owner Michael Bernard shot to the top of the owners’ standing, but he showed more interest in the horse’s well-being going forward.

“Where ever today’s victory takes us, I will be happy; I just want to see him [ Wow Wow]continue in a healthy state and deliver on the promise that he has shown in his performances so far. That is what I am looking forward to and of course, to enjoy my racing and whatever happens, happens!”

As to the owners’ title Bernard was clear.

“Quite frankly it is not important. The key thing for us as owners, and the same thing goes for Carlton [Watson] as well, is that we want to race our horses and enjoy the sport and whereever that takes us — we sit back and accept it.

“As for Wow Wow, all I want is for the trainer to keep him healthy so that he can continue to develop from strength to strength and give us what he has, which is really a realisation of the potential of his dam line, Sarah Barracuda,” Bernard ended.

Super-pleased trainer Gary Subratie was a bit concerned about his charge in the starting gates.

“The only concern that I have right now is that he [ Wow Wow] kind of sat down in the gates before the start of the race.

“I thought that Wow Wow was acting up because the horses behind him were making a lot of noise. He just wanted to go and do his business, so he tried to come out and he sat down on the back of the gate he was in. I will check and see whether or not he got any damage.

“That is the only thing that I am worried about. I know that he is going to train on to be much better as I have not pushed him as yet.

“He is going to improve and these races are also going to bring him on to teach him how to relax. Time and patience are two major elements he will get to aid his development,” Subratie added.
