Is Grammy-winning artiste Buju Banton and hit-making producer Dave Kelly back in studio working together?

That is what is being hinted at via the artiste’s Instagram account.

Last week he posted a video which showed a hooded figure entering studio and working on beats, with the caption, “Suh…mi done chat”.

This prospect has excited many, as the two have been known to drop favourites such a s Bogle, Big it up, How It Ago Go and Man A Look Yuh. Among those who have responded to the social media post are DJ Khaled, Agent Sasco, Member of Parliament Lisa Hanna, I-Octane, former TOK member Craigy T, and producer Seanizzle. Everyone is expressing anticipation of what these two can come up with.

Dave Kelly has released some of the most popular and influential dancehall rhythms such as Joyride, Showtime, Fiesta, and 85.

Since returning home Buju has dropped the singles Steppa and Country for Sale, and contributed to DJ Khaled’s much-touted album Father of Asahd, which was released in May of this year. His two tracks were Holy Mountain also featuring 070 Shake, Mavado and Sizzla, and Holy Ground.

Reports from the Buju Banton camp are that the artiste will drop his first album in January of next year. Until then, he will release a number of singles to satisfy his audience.

The artiste has stayed away from the spotlight since returning home last December following a 10-year sentence on drug charges. He occassionally posts photographs and videos on his social media accounts but has not granted any media interviews. Most recently this earned the ire of media entities in the sister Caribbean island of Dominica, where he performed at the World Creole Music Festival in that country’s capital, Roseau, the most recent stop of his Long Walk to Freedom Tour which kicked off at National Stadium in St Andrew in March.
