Defending champion Kingston College (KC) and Wolmer’s Boys’ will clash in the top-of-the-table Group G encounter of the ISSA/Digicel Manning Cup quarter-final at 4:00 pm, at the Stadium East field.

In the curtain-raiser of the double-header, Camperdown High and Charlie Smith High meet at 2:00 pm.

Both Kingston College (KC) and Wolmer’s won their first set of games to be on three points, while Camperdown and Charlie Smith are both pointless and looking to get off the mark.

KC had thumped Charlie Smith 5-0 to lead the group on goal difference, while Wolmer’s edged Camperdown 3-2 to be second, and a victory today would almost guarantee the winner a spot in the semi-finals.

The permutations are that if there is no winner in the first game then a win for KC or Wolmer’s would send them through with one game remaining, as six points would be unassailable for two other teams to surpass.

If KC beat Wolmer’s and Charlie Smith defeat Camperdown, KC will book their spot in the semi-finals with six points, because both Wolmer’s and Charlie Smith would be on three points and they would meet each other in the final round.

Likewise, if Wolmer’s Boys’ beat KC and Camperdown beat Charlie Smith, Wolmer’s would have booked their semi-final spot, as both KC and Camperdown would be on three points heading into their clash in the final group match.

With that said, today’s encounter should be epic as both KC and Wolmer’s seek to seize the initiative in what is a massive, but not a do or die game.

KC will enter the contest full of confidence coming off a workmanlike 2-0 win over Garvey Maceo last Saturday in the Champions Cup, while it is left to be seen how Wolmer’s will respond following their 0-2 defeat at the hands of the impressive Clarendon College.

KC will be depending on the likes of Dwayne Atkinson, Ronaldo Robinson, Tyrese Williams, Captain Jamari Morrison, Sajar Blair, Rajiv Gavin, Calvin Gardner, Scott McLeod and Demerio McCarthy for victory.

Wolmer’s Boys’ victory charge will be led by Renaldo Webster, Rivaldo Mitchell, Shamour McLeod, Rushane Thompson, Jaheim Rose and Jhavir Lynch.

Meanwhile, it is a do or die situation for Camperdown and Charlie Smith as neither team can afford to lose having both lost their opening fixtures last week.

Both teams also lost in the Champions Cup and will be looking to keep their chances of advancing in the Manning Cup alive.

Camperdown were flawless in the first round, winning all 12 games before dismissing Holy Trinity High 3-1 on aggregate in the second round. They went two goals behind against Wolmer’s but rallied before losing 2-3, and should fancy themselves securing three points against Charlie Smith.

Charlie Smith, on the other hand, recovered well following their 0-5 mauling by defending champions KC, and then put in a stout-hearted display before losing 0-1 to defending champions Cornwall College in the Champions Cup.

Two defeats to the defending champions are not bad for Charlie Smith and they will be raring to go at Camperdown.
