J Nez goes Island Pretty
CAYMANIAN singjay/ rapper J Nez has long admired the beauty of Caribbean women. That inspired his latest song, Island Pretty.
“I wanted Island Pretty to highlight all Caribbean women and to remind them how beautiful they are, not only on the outside but on the inside as well. Women in general are so consumed by social media and society’s perception of what beauty is. However, every woman is beautiful in her own unique way,” J Nez explained.
Island Pretty was released late last year in the Cayman Islands. Co-produced by J Nez and Sean Johnson of Joe Blo Entertainment, the single was a hit there. Because his parents are Jamaican, J Nez feels it is time to spread his music to their homeland, and he has started with Island Pretty.
“Jamaica is considered the reggae capital of the world and my music has always been influenced by the Jamaican culture. My parents are from Jamaica and the mix of the Jamaican elements in my music give it the right fit,” he said.
Island Pretty is featured on his EP, A King’s Paradise, which was recently released. The seven-song mini set features Man A Balla featuring Safaree, Uh Huh with American singer Shanell (who is signed to rapper Lil Wayne’s Young Money Entertainment), Closest with Kevin Writer, No Rusha, Exciting and Nah Complain.
J Nez (given name Jasen Campbell) was born in George Town, Cayman’s capital. He made his recording debut 15 years ago with I Want You.
