Call her Mrs Rose: Jamaican athlete Tiffany James is enjoying marriage
Jamaica and the rest of the world will have to get accustomed to the name
Mrs Rose now that the world 400m Under-20 gold medallist Tiffany James has tied
the knot with former athlete Jamari Rose.
The 22-year-old James recently got married to 24-year-old Jamari, a former quarter-miler who called it quits on his career quite early.
June 14 wedding
A few months since the nuptials and Tiffany is definitely enjoying her marriage.
“Well, my married life is going on well. It’s almost four months since I
got married – June 14 – and decided I was gonna make it public before I start
back training for my 2020 season, and I’m really enjoying it,” James-Rose said
in an exclusive interview with BUZZ.
Together for four years
Tiffany revealed that she has been in a relationship with Jamari for the
past four years.
“I met him and when I was just 18 years old and I’m now 22. My husband,
who is not an athlete anymore, is my biggest fan, always motivating me because
he wants to see me do better,” said Tiffany, who copped two medals at the World
Championships in Doha, Qatar, recently.

“We have been living together before marriage, so we were already
learning to tolerate each her.”
Tiffany attended Papine High and now trains with Bert Cameron – one of
the best 400m runners of all time – at the Mico University. She has a personal
best of 51.32 seconds that she ran when she won gold at the IAAF Under-20
Championship in 2016.
Listening ear
Although Jamari has an athletic background, she said that he does not interfere with her training.
“Yes, we discuss athletics, but he doesn’t get involved with my training. He is always a listening ear though,” said Tiffany.
“I just leave that to my coach, but he (Jamari) is always in my corner.
Apart from my mom, he knows me best.”

Mrs Rose, who gave Jamaica its first gold in the 30-year history of the IAAF
World U20 Championships in 2016, is hoping to really make her mark at the
senior level heading into the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
“I just want to lower my personal best,” she said.
