Half Moon Charity Golf surpasses $2m target for Cornwall Regional Hospital
ST JAMES, Jamaica — The Half Moon Charity Golf event in aid of the Cornwall Regional Hospital in Montego Bay proved to be a “win win” according to Kevyn Cunningham, the resort’s Director of Golf, as the $2 million target was surpassed.
The event, held Saturday during the 65th anniversary celebration of the hotel, raised $2,196, 875 for the health facility that the Senior Medical Officer Dr Derrick Harvey said “is always in need of help.”
Over 25 sponsors, including the Jamaica Observer helped to raise the funds in what Cunningham described as “a win win situation where everybody gets to have a great day playing golf on a fantastic course and the companies get to showcase their products.”
The event, put together by the founders of the resort, was played on a “shot gun” format that saw teams of four players, all amateurs, playing the best ball — that is after all four have teed off, they would play the ball closest to the pin until the ball went into the hole on the green.
