Reggae Boyz draw 1-1 with Guyana in Nations League
Jamaica’s Reggae Boyz ended their campaign in Group C of the CONCACAF Nations League B with a draw with Guyana at Montego Bay Sports Complex Monday evening.
Emery Welshman placed Guyana ahead just before the halftime whistle sounded, but five minutes after the resumption, Javon East found the equaliser for the Reggae Boyz.
The result was the only blemish in the six matches for the Reggae Boyz as they had won their previous five matches. They ended the group on 13 points and at the top.
The Reggae Boyz had already qualified for the CONCACAF 2021 Gold Cup and CONCACAF Nations League A before the encounter. Only the winners of the group advanced.
The Reggae Boyz failed to handle a long pass from the middle of the field to Welshman and the forward fired from just inside the penalty area past the Jamaican custodian
East capitalised on a spilt cross by the Guyana goalkeeper to turn the ball into the back of the net from inside the six-yard box.
