Cooper’s Pen progress to quarter-finals of Victor Wright KO
COOPERS PEN, Trelawny – President’s Cup champions Coopers Pen FC made progress to the quarter-finals of the Trelawny Football Association’s Victor Wright Knockout after beating Spicy Hill SC 2-0 in their first-round game at Coopers Pen on Sunday.
Coopers Pen FC won the first silverware of the season last Wednesday after beating Duanvale FC 2-1 in the final at Bounty Hall and join six other teams in the second round that is set to start later this week.
Also on the weekend, Prospect Links and Salt Marsh United also advanced to the second round by the penalty kicks route, with wins over Duanvale and Wait-A-Bit PYC, respectively, as both games ended 0-0.
The other teams into the second round are Harmony FC, Holland United, Duncans United and RG Strikers.
On Sunday, Shannary Brown, who had missed the Presidents Cup KO final, scored in the 38th minute to give Coopers Pen the lead before Christopher Noble, who had scored on Wednesday, added a second goal in the 62nd minute.
Prospect Links won 6-5 in sudden-death penalties over Duanvale FC, while Salt Marsh United were 4-1 winners in their shoot-out over Wait-A-Bit.
