Manchester police identify man killed in drive-by shooting
MANDEVILLE, Manchester – The police have released the identity of a man who was shot and killed on Villa Road in the parish capital, Friday afternoon.
He is 48-year-old Wigon Lemard otherwise called ‘Junior’, a resident of Redwood Close in Mandeville.
Reports are that shortly after 2:00 pm Lemard was walking along Villa Road and when he reached the intersection with deCarteret Road he was gunned down in what witnesses say was a drive-by shooting.
When OBSERVER ONLINE arrived on the scene, a number of onlookers had already converged on the scene.
One onlooker said he saw a car stop close to Lemard as the latter was walking away from the centre of Mandeville and he heard gunshots.
“Earlier mi see him (Lemard) a walk come from out of the town and not too long after mi hear gunshots. I hear a car stop and soon after it move off. When mi look me see ‘Rasta’ [the deceased] lay down at the side of the road pon him belly,” he said.
