Christopher Taylor leads men’s 400m with 45.99s
KINGSTON, Jamaica — Former World Under-18 champion Christopher Taylor ran 45.99 seconds, the fastest time in the first round of the men’s 400m at the Jamaica Athletics Administrative Association (JAAA) Ministry of Health/Supreme Ventures National Senior Championships this afternoon at the national stadium.
The Florida-based athlete won the second heat comfortably ahead of the field and started slowing down 20 metres from the finish line.
Former champion and World Championships finalist Demish Gaye, at 46.08 seconds, was the next fastest with the fastest Jamaican so far this year, Sean Bailey, of the University of Texas-El Paso also winning his heat in 46.29 seconds with national record holder Rusheen McDonald advancing with 46.67 seconds.
Also advancing was Nathon Allen, one of the three Jamaican men with the automatic qualifying time.
The 400m semi-finals will be run on Saturday and the finals on Sunday.
