Women’s 100 metre finalists decided
KINGSTON, Jamaica — The stage has been set for arguably the best women’s 100 metre finals outside of the Olympic Games later tonight at the national stadium in Kingston with the highlight of the Jamaica Athletics Administrative Association (JAAA) Ministry of Health/Supreme Ventures National Senior Championships.
For the second consecutive round, Shericka Jackson leads the quailifiers after the semi-finals with another personal best 10.77 seconds (0.9m/s), the sixth fastest ever by a Jamaican woman all time.
She lowered her 10.91 second set yesterday and is now a firm favourite to finish in the top three in the final.
Elaine Thompson-Herah won her semi-final in 10.82 seconds (1.1m/s) edging national record holder Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce 10.84 seconds.
Meanwhile, World Under-20 double sprint champion Briana Williams –11.02 seconds (0.9m/s), Natasha Morrison –11.03 seconds (1.1m/s), Kemba Nelson — 11.06 seconds (0.9m/s), Remona Burchell — 11.15 seconds (0.9m/s) and Ashanti Moore — 11.19 seconds (0.9m/s) are also through to the final.
