Our women are impressive!
Dear Editor,
Reigning World Champion Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce is currently the fastest woman in the world.
On Saturday, June 5, 2021, at the National Stadium, she clocked 10.63 seconds to win the women’s 100m final at the Jamaica Olympic Association (JOA)/Jamaica Athletics Administrative Association (JAAA) Olympic Destiny Series meet.
Shericka Jackson was a shocker; finishing in second place over Olympic champion Elaine Thompson, who finished third.
Then, on Sunday, June 27, 2021 Shelly doubled her performance by winning the women’s 200m dash in a time of 21.79 seconds at the National Trials. She is indeed a superstar.
However, there was a big surprise: The determined Shericka Jackson powered her way into second position again — this time in the 200m dash — above Thompson. That was a splendid performance from Shericka. She looks very impressive, indeed.
Overall, we extend our right hand to all our athletes in congratulating them on their wonderful performances, but special “big up” to the “Pocket Rocket”, to Shericka, Elaine.
Let’s pray for them and hope that they will do very well in the upcoming Tokyo Olympics.
