Popeye Caution goes ‘Bezerk’
South Florida deejay Popeye Caution gets in the summer dance flow with Bezerk , a party song featuring Ding Dong. After enduring nearly one year of ‘house arrest’ due to COVID-19, he is ready to get back on the dance floor .
Released in May, Bezerk is produced by Earth Quake Beats.
“We actually just wanted to put out an energetic song to get people back active after the crazy year we all had. The timing was just perfect and I’m happy that the fans are already embracing it,” Popeye Caution told the Jamaica Observer.
It is his second song with Ding Dong. Their first, Good Ting Dem, came out in 2019.
Given Ding Dong’s track record as a hitmaker and positive response to Good Ting Dem, Popeye Caution said it was only natural they take another crack at the charts.
“’Ding’ and I have been friends for years and we always share ideas. We just decided to give the fans another vibe with the two of us,” he explained. “Ding Dong brings an understanding of the energy and lingo that the country (Jamaica) wants. His verse was straight heat and I felt it complemented what I did on the song.”
Popeye Caution (real name Marlon Reid) was born in Kingston but migrated to the United States at an early age. He has been recording professionally since 2010.
Though it is not a season-specific song, he knows the impact of a summer hit.
“It means a lot! The people are more active and the feeling is enhanced due to energetic songs. No better feeling than being in the sun and hearing your favourite song at a cookout or festival. Everyone will go Bezerk!” Popeye Caution exclaimed.
