Versi backs PM on ‘no tests’
Versi is elated that COVID-19 tests will no longer be required to travel to Jamaica — a development which became effective on April 15.
“This is great news because it shows that the world is getting back to a sense of normalcy. This is a good move for sectors like tourism and for our music industry, because it gets rid of the added hassle and expense of a COVID test to travel. This makes the movement of people easier and faster, which is great for entertainment,” Versi told the Jamaica Observer.
The announcement was made by Prime Minister Andrew Holness in a statement on Wednesday.
Currently, individuals travelling to Jamaica must present a negative COVID-19 test result at least three days before their arrival.
Holness also announced that people in enclosed public spaces will no longer be required to wear masks, although it is encouraged.
In the meantime, Versi is pumped up about the buzz created by his single Easy Nuh Baby, which has racked up over 4,000,000 views on YouTube since its release over a month ago.
“The hard work is paying off. Since the start of the year mi practically live inna the studio, just recording songs constantly. My VersiVEVO subscribers have doubled since January. My streaming numbers have tripled; the growth is there, and I am just pushing ahead, full steam ahead,” Versi said.
The single was released on the Cawvinz Entertainment label in March.
He releasing a new video for his popular single, Star, on April 7, which has racked up over 100,000 views since its release.
“The visuals were shot in Manhattan and Brooklyn, a fun video with partying and girls,” he said.
Versi has been on a tear since the start of 2022 with songs such as the club banger Naw Steam and Perseverance. He is booked to appear on a show in Cape Cod on July 16.
