Carifta Games: Lawrence breaks Under-20 shot put record; Jamaica finish 1-2
KINGSTON, Jamaica – It was double delight for Jamaica in the boys’ Under-20 shot put as Kobe Lawrence topped the event with a new record 20.02m, ahead of compatriot Christopher Young at the 49th Carifta Games at the National Stadium.
Lawrence’s record mark came on his final throw of the event, and erased the old mark of 19.97m set in 2016 by another Jamaican, Warren Barrett.
Young’s mark of 19.12m earned him silver with Kevon Hinds (16.18m) of Barbados in third.
