Jamaican producer Mxssivh’s stocks rise as Drake hits Hot 100
Montego Bay-based producer Mxssivh who has production credits on two songs from Drake’s recently released albums Maid of Honour and Iceman, is on cloud nine.
This as the Iceman track Ran to Atlanta by Drake featuring Future and Molly Santana, debuts at #2 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.
The second track, New Bestie which is from Maid of Honour, enters the chart at #72.
Iceman debuts at #1 on the Billboard 200 albums chart with first week sales of 463,000 album equivalent units, giving Drake his 15th #1 album to date.
Maid of Honour arrives at #3 with 110,000 album equivalent units.
Over in the United Kingdom (UK), Iceman opens at #1 and has topped charts in Switzerland, Sweden, New Zealand, Lithonia, Ireland, Australia and Netherlands.
Maid of Honour arrives at #6 in the UK and has made the top 10 in Australia, Austria, Lithuania, Switzerland, New Zealand and Sweden.
Interestingly, this is the first time in three years that an album that has reached #1 on the Billboard 200 Albums chart, features a collaboration or a credit to a Jamaican.
The last time this occurred was in 2023, when Drake’s For All the Dogs topped the chart. That project featured a production credit to Jamaican-born Matthew “Boi-1da” Samuels, who co-produced the track First Person Shooter, featuring J Cole.
