Arnett vs Harbour View highlights JPL Sunday

THE clash between the pair of former champions Arnett Gardens FC and Harbour View FC is arguably the marquee fixture as the Jamaica Premier League enters match day 15 on Sunday.

Kick-off is scheduled for 5:15 pm at the Anthony Spaulding Sports Complex, the home of the Arnett Gardens football team.

Arnett Gardens have been mostly impressive so far this season, compiling 28 points from 14 matches to be third in the 12-team league standing.

The ‘Junglists’ have won eight matches, but were left disappointed last time out when they were held 1-1 by lowly Humble Lions FC.

Harbour View have not been as consistent as Arnett Gardens, but lying in sixth place with 20 points, the ‘Stars of the East’ currently occupy the final play-off spot. Last week they ended 3-3 with Tivoli Gardens FC.

In the 3:00 pm encounter at the Anthony Spaulding venue, champions Cavalier FC are slated to take on Humble Lions.

Cavalier, yet to fire on all cylinders this season, are fifth with 23 points, and with a few favourable results can climb among the front-runners in a flash. Their last result was a 0-0 scoreline against Portmore United.

Despite the draw versus Arnett Gardens last week, Humble Lions are only 10th with 11 points.

In another 3:00 pm contest, 11th-place Vere United (11 points) welcome eighth-place Tivoli Gardens FC (15 points) to the Wembley Centre of Excellence in Clarendon.

Vere lost 0-1 to Mount Pleasant last time out, while Tivoli had that high scoring draw with Harbour View.

Also at 3 o’ clock, last-place Montego Bay United (five points) entertain fourth-place Mount Pleasant FA (25 points) at Wespow Park in St James.

While Mount Pleasant had that narrow win over Vere last week, Montego Bay suffered a 1-2 defeat at the hands of Molynes United, their 11th loss of the season.

In the first game of the double-header at Anthony Spaulding Sports Complex on Monday, league leaders Dunbeholden FC (32 points) are set to take on ninth-place Molynes (14 points) at 5:00 pm.

In their last outing Dunbeholden finished 2-2 with nearest rivals Waterhouse FC, while Molynes were boosted by the result over Montego Bay.

In the flagship Monday night football game at 7:30 pm, second-place Waterhouse FC (30 points) are set to trade punches with seventh-place Portmore United (16 points).

Waterhouse, who shared the spoils with Dunbeholden last time out, will be looking to return to winning ways, while Portmore will be hoping to start a run for the play-offs after last week’s stalemate with Cavalier.
