Jamaica reports 73 new COVID cases, 5 deaths
KINGSTON, Jamaica — Jamaica on Saturday reported 73 new cases of COVID-19, bringing the total case count since the start of the pandemic to 129,562.
According to the latest statistics from the Ministry of Health and Wellness, the country also reported five more virus-related deaths. The death toll since the start of the pandemic now stands at 2,948.
Of the newly reported cases, there were 48 females and 25 males with ages ranging from one day to 108 years.
The cases were recorded in Clarendon (seven), Hanover (two), Kingston and St Andrew (18), Manchester (four), St Ann (eight), Portland (one), St Catherine (two), St James (25), Westmoreland (one), St Mary (three) and Trelawny (two).
Meanwhile, the latest victims are:
A 55-year-old male from St Catherine who died in April 2021.
A 73-year-old male from Westmoreland who died in July 2021.
A 74-year-old from Westmoreland who died in August 2021
A 44-year-old female from Westmoreland who died in August 2021
A 54-year-old male from Westmoreland who died in September 2021.
The country also recorded 41 new recoveries, bringing the total number of recoveries to 83,006.
The country’s positivity rate now stands at 6.6 percent.
