‘Garvey’, Clarendon College set date for U-16 crown
MANDEVILLE, Manchester — Garvey Maceo and Clarendon College will meet in Friday’s final of the Inter-secondary Schools Sports Association Under-16 football competition after scoring close wins over Frome Technical and Glenmuir High, respectively, in Tuesday’s semi-final games.
Both Frome Technical and Glenmuir were losing for the first time in the season.
At Manchester High, Garvey Maceo, who are still perfect all year, came back from one goal down to beat Frome Technical 2-1. At Foga Road, meantime, Clarendon College held off Glenmuir High to win 1-0, avenging their first-round loss.
Stevaughn Spence gave Frome Technical the lead after 13 minutes, but Garvey Maceo came back with goals from two players who had played significant roles in their win in the daCosta Cup competition in January.
Shacquille Blackstock levelled the scores in the 40th minute before Christopher Mundle scored the winner in the 48th minute.
Justin Hanes’ seventh-minute goal was sufficient for Clarendon College as they held off Glenmuir High 1-0.
