Man fatally shot by police in downtown Kingston

KINGSTON, Jamaica — A man was shot and killed by cops during a confrontation on Beeston Street in downtown Kingston on Wednesday night, the police have confirmed.

The deceased has been identified as Davar Dacres.

The incident reportedly occurred sometime after 11:00 pm on Wednesday.

Further reports reaching Observer Online indicate that Dacres was being sought in connection with the earlier fatal stabbing of a woman on Love Lane, an incident that was reportedly captured on CCTV.

The Independent Commission of Investigations (Indecom) and the Inspectorate and Professional Standards Oversight Bureau (IPROB) are investigating the matter.
