#PennRelays: Edwin Allen leads 4x100m qualifiers
PHILADELPHIA, United States — Defending champions Edwin Allen lead six Jamaican teams into Friday’s High School Girls’ 4x100m relay final at the 126th Penn Relays in Philadelphia.
Edwin Allen, who have won the last six titles, ran 44.64 seconds, the ninth-fastest time in the event’s history, to lead all Thursday qualifiers.
Hydel High, who arrived in the American city on Wednesday, also advanced with 46.37 seconds, followed by Holmwood with 47.12 seconds, Immaculate Conception with 47.15 seconds, St Catherine High with 47.56 seconds and St Jago with 47.37 seconds.
Meanwhile, two other teams will not run in the final after just failing to advance.
Petersfield had won their heat in 48.46 seconds, and Vere Technical in 49.22 seconds.
