Alicia Phillip, elder daughter of Janette and Dr George Phillip, the late industrial relations expert and businessman, died suddenly in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, on April 21, 2022. She was 52.

“Alicia was a generous, witty, and dedicated individual who loved painting and was passionate about seeing the world evolve into a place where love and compassion were respected and cherished,” the family said in a tribute to Phillip.

Alicia Phillip hailed from Montego Bay, St James, where she was born on December 24, 1969. She attended Immaculate Conception High School and later graduated from International Fine Arts College, Miami, Florida, with a degree in fashion merchandising.

Her passion for the arts led her down several professional paths including jewellery design, painting, fashion design and other creative and artistic endeavours. Her diverse range of interests also led to a job as a flight attendant with the former Air Jamaica.

After moving to New York, Phillip and her longtime partner, John Salabarria, welcomed twin boys — Joshua and Simon. Her children will be reminded that “she was a kind, gentle woman whose beautiful soul left an indelible mark on all those who came into contact with her”, mother Janette said.

Alicia Phillip is survived by her mother, sister Ky-Ann, sons, aunt Fay, cousins Natascha and Marika, and other family members.

Funeral service is scheduled for Saturday, April 30, 2022 at 11:00 am at St Benedict’s Episcopal Church, 7801 NW 5th Street, Plantation, Florida 33324 with a reception to follow at the same location. The service will be streamed live at www.khantentproductions.net/aliciaphillip.

Reverend Albert Cutie will officiate the ceremony. All are welcome to attend and celebrate her life. She always had a special love for children and in lieu of flowers, donations will be received for St Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital (www.stjude.org).
