Grace Shield champions Excelsior and Headley Cup winners St Elizabeth Technical High School (STETHS) will go in search of more silverware this season when they meet in the Inter-secondary Schools Sports Association (ISSA)/GraceKennedy Twenty20 (T20) cricket competition today.

The two will lockhorns in the feature contest scheduled for 1:30 pm, after Manchester High and Wolmer’s Boys’ meet in the first semi-final at 10:00 am.

Both games will be played at STETHS Sports Complex.

Having copped their 35th hold on the rural area Headley Cup with a four-wicket win over Manchester, STETHS, the most successful school in Jamaican cricket for more than 40 years, will be high on confidence. But they will be hoping for a much more composed performance after jitters in the Headley Cup final.

After cruising at 49-0 in search of 70 runs on the last day, STETHS faltered, losing six wickets for 15 runs before battling through the pressure to secure victory at 70-6.

Excelsior were comfortable six-wicket winners over Wolmer’s Boys’ to lift the urban area title, but will now be bracing for tougher competition from the perennial kingpins of schoolboy cricket.

Manchester will be buoyed by their fightback against STETHS on last which would see them starting slight favourites against urban area runners-up Wolmer’s Boys’.
