UPDATE: Water recedes but marooned group still stuck

ST JAMES, Jamaica — The waters of the previously swollen Barnett River have receded a bit but members of an emergency response team have still not been able to get to seven people stranded on a patch of land in waters near Porto Bello.

OBSERVER ONLINE sources at the scene say the members of the group, who appear to be students, do not appear to be in any immediate danger.

Firefighters and police officers are at the scene.
