Unlike many of their predecessors, contemporary gospel artistes see nothing wrong with recording songs to un-traditional melodies. DaJourney and Sone G are among those who subscribe to that school of thought.

The duo express their love for Christ and His Word on Sweet Eeh which blends Afrobeats and dancehall. Produced by DaJourney, the song was released in April.

“I wouldn’t day it’s the most hardcore, I would say this song has the ability to cross many genres. It’s a good song that reminds everyone of the goodness of God,” said Toronto-based DaJourney. “It is quite important to make an effort to reach the younger generation and we are most able to relate to them.”

Sone G, who lives in South Florida, agrees.

“It’s paramount to reach out to youth. Our value is a special commodity the world needs for now and for tomorrow. That could turn a gunman into a businessman, it could save lives and more importantly it will save souls,” he said.

This is DaJourney and Sone G’s second collaboration. Their first, Solid Rock, came out in 2020 and was also produced by DaJourney.

DaJourney, who is from Kingston, has been recording for several years. His previous songs include What If, Time With You and Different.

Sone G hails from Clarendon and has nearly 20 years as a recording artiste to his name. His solo songs include Spirit A Move, Purpose and Good to Me.
