PROMOTERS at Royal Flush Entertainment Group paid homage to mothers as well as to the late mom of one of their members by hosting a Mother’s Day brunch at Little Copa Club at 8 Miles, Bull Bay in St Andrew.

Carol Vaz, 62 — mom of Royal Flush promoter Taj Priestly — died from COVID-19 complications at University Hospital of the West Indies Hospital on January 17 last year.

Priestly said that the event was organised to honour all the great mothers in Jamaica as well as pay tribute to his deceased parent.

“I’m someone that deeply loves my mother. So we decided to host this event in dedication to all the wonderful mothers and in significance of my mother,” he told the Jamaica Observer.

“She would really enjoy the event, especially the old-school music that was being played. She was also a people person, someone who was outgoing and enjoyed meeting and talking to individuals,” he continued.

Priestly, who is also a chef at Grand Excelsior Hotel located in Port Royal, gave an emotional recollection of his last Mother’s Day spent with his beloved mom.

“I actually cooked for her. It gave me much joy and pleasure just to be in her presence and seeing her happy,” he said.

The high point of the Mother’s Day brunch, he said, was seeing the number of celebrities who came out to support the mothers.

“We had the likes of Mr Lexx, Bushman, and Eastsyde artiste Street Genna,” he said..

Another promoter of the event, Shawn Kerr, said that he was delighted with the turnout.

“It was a success. We got the amount of people we expected and probably even a little more. It was the first staging of the event and we thinking about making it an annual event, probably even twice for the year,” Kerr said.

Sound H Entertainment Dj Vaughny Vicious, Dj Hattaklaps, and Rich Gang & Dj Matic provided music.

Mothers were treated to array of dishes including barbecue wings, bammy, jerk chicken pasta and fish nuggets.
