BIRMINGHAM, UK – Olympic champion Hansle Parchment ran a world leading 13.09 seconds (0.2m/s) to win the 110m hurdles at the Birmingham Diamond League meeting at Alexander Stadium on Saturday.

Parchment won the match up between the last two Olympic champions as he beat fellow Jamaican Omar McLeod who ran a season’s best 13.17 seconds with Spain’s Asier Martinez third in 13.32 seconds.

He was the only Jamaican winner on the programme as Shericka Jackson and Yohan Blake were second in the women’s and men’s 100m respectively while Natoya Goule-Topping was third in the women’s 800m.

Jackson clocked 11.12 seconds (-0.1m/s) as Great Britain’s Dina Asher-

Smith just got to the tape ahead of her with 11.11 seconds in her opening 100m race of the season.

Blake led the men’s race up to 90 metres after two false starts but was

edged by Canada’s Aaron Brown who won with 10.13 seconds (-0.2m/s) to the Jamaican’s 10.18 seconds.

Goule-Topping faded to third in the 800m after she was well placed in

second with under 100 metres to go, running 2:00.13 seconds. Great Britain’s Keely Hodgkinson won in 1:58.63 seconds and France’s Renelle Lamote was second with 1:59.53 seconds.

Janieve Russell was seventh in the women’s 400m hurdles in 56.21

seconds.
