Kudos for Kustiks
Relationship is the latest song by Kustiks. It has made the playlist of several radio stations. Produced by Irie Land Records, it was released three weeks ago.
The song was inspired by a personal experience.
“My friend got the beat, and mi say the riddim bad. We a vibe it inna the lane down at Seaview Gardens, but mi did a go through a small phase with my catty at the time. So mi start say, da catty ya, mi caan bodda. Just the swing and the whole vibe of the riddim and I came up with the song,” said Kustiks.
Even though it’s still early days, Kustiks is happy with the progress of Relationship.
“The response has been tremendous. The song mash up the place anytime I perform it in public. All mi sister a call mi a say when mi ah go buy har the Mark X. A long time wi a do this and mi feel a my time,” the singer/musician disclosed.
Kustiks, who plays the guitar, is from the community of Seaview Gardens in the Corporate Area. Several entertainers have emerged from that community throughout the years, including Grammy-winning international dancehall star Shabba Ranks, Bounty Killer, Elephant Man, Dexta Daps, and members of the Scare Dem Crew.
He hopes to one day earn similar success as the others before him.
“The journey has been tedious, rough, and hard. It’s not an easy thing. Nuff people see mi and say how mi nuh buss yet, but them nuh understand say a nuh so you just buss. The work and the money. If you nuh have the investment, then it naa go happen. The journey teaches me a whole heap, especially on the business side,” he said.
“I hope to achieve the highest level of anything that I can achieve musically. I’m a multifaceted artiste, I make beats, I record myself, and I also mix my own music,” he continued.
