KINGSTON, Jamaica – Dalton Wint has indicated to the Jamaica Football Federation (JFF) board that he will resign following calls from members of Jamaica’s national senior team for his dismissal.

Wint, who has been at the centre of several issues involving national teams, has been in the firing line after logistical issues, relating to travel arrangements following the country’s Concacaf Nations League match away to Suriname on Saturday.

According to sources close to the situation, Wint has informed JFF president Michael Ricketts that he will step aside, however, up to 8pm on Monday, he had not indicated an effective date and had not submitted his resignation officially.

However, following an emergency board meeting on Monday evening, the embattled administrator was told clearly that he will be fired if he refuses to hand in an official resignation letter.

Tuesday’s return fixture against Suriname at the National Stadium, set for 8pm, had been cast into doubt after players packed their bags and checked out of the Marriott by Courtyard Kingston hotel and failed to turn up for a scheduled 6pm training session.

This after it was indicated that Wint, on the advice of the JFF’s attorneys, would be suspended indefinitely and an investigation launched, much to the disapproval of the players.

However, the players did turn up to the National Stadium for a session after receiving news of Wint’s resignation but it was unclear if they were able to conduct training after missing their designated time.

By all accounts, Tuesday’s game against Suriname will go ahead as scheduled, sparing the JFF serious repercussions from FIFA and Concacaf.
