WITH the crime rate a concern for many, some recording artistes are making their feelings known. Among them is singjay Itadon.

His latest single Bloody City is inspired by the crime wave locally as well as the mass shootings across the world. It was released on June 7 and is produced by Ovadrive Entertainment.

“This track is basically speaking about the senseless killings around the world and in Jamaica. It’s talking about how bloody the streets are,” Itadon told the Jamaica Observer.

“As artistes we hope that people will hear the message and it will, in some way, inspire and send a positive message. The crime is just too much and it’s causing too many lives to be displaced and families in mourning,” he continued.

Itadon, who has distinguished himself as one who produces music with substance, says he wants to uplift lives with his message.

“Music for me is inborn, but it all started from school days beating the desk tops and freestyling until it developed into this right now. I grew up listening to artistes like Damian Marley, Sizzla, Garnett Silk, and a few others who have influenced me in several ways,” said Itadon.

Itadon, whose real name is Orrett Small, started out doing music in 2008. He took a break from music and resumed 10 years later.

“My journey has been one of growth. I’ve seen a transformation in my craft since 2018 which allows me to master it, and the song Bloody City is part of that transformation,” he disclosed.
