WATCH: Transport Authority workers protest alleged forced removal of MD
ST JAMES, Jamaica — Workers at the Transport Authority’s western regional office in Montego Bay, St James on Tuesday staged a peaceful protest over what they believe is the forced removal of their managing director, Willard Hylton.
Speaking to OBSERVER ONLINE, one employee stated that employees were told that the managing director will be “resigning at the end of this month”.
The administrative assistant believes this is “too convenient”.
“Mr Hylton would not do this to his people. He would never just leave without coming to tell us personally. Something is not right,” the worker told OBSERVER ONLINE.
Placard-bearing route inspectors and administration staff stood outside the office shouting, “we want Hylton!”
The workers have vowed to remain off the job for the rest of the day and stand in solidarity with Hylton.
