GROS ISLET, St Lucia (CMC) — Debutant fast bowler Anderson Phillip and Alzarri Joseph grabbed a brace of wickets to send Bangladesh into decline in the second session on the opening day of the second Test here Friday.

At tea, the tourists were 159 for six with Litton Das propping up the innings with an unbeaten 34 and partnered by Mehidy Hasan Miraz on five.

Bangladesh were 77 for two at lunch but lost four wickets for 82 runs in the session with Phillips (2-30) and Joseph (2-37) both adding a second wicket.

Resuming from lunch, Bangladesh kept West Indies wicketless courtesy of Anamul and Najmul Hossain (26) who extended their third-wicket stand to 37.

Anamul, unbeaten at lunch on five, struck five fours in a 33-ball knock while Najmul, unbeaten on 16 at the break, counted four fours in his 73-ball knock before falling lbw to seamer Kyle Mayers.

In the previous over, with the score also on 105, Phillip had trapped Anamul lbw with one which kept a fraction low.

Captain Shakib Al Hasan then played on to pacer Jayden Seales for eight and Nurul Hasan brushed a catch behind off Joseph, to leave Bangladesh struggling.
