STETHS marks 60th with reunion celebrations
ST ELIZABETH, Jamaica — Now entering the final phase of its 60th anniversary celebrations, St Elizabeth Technical High School (STETHS) launches a Reunion Week on Sunday with a thanksgiving service at the New Testament Church of God on Institution Drive, in Santa Cruz, starting at 10:00 am.
Reunion activities continue on Monday at 8:15 am with Founders and Achievement Day on the school campus — located to the east of the Santa Cruz town centre — as the STETHS fraternity reflects “on major milestones and accomplishments”.
Organisers say current students will be specifically targeted on Tuesday, June 28, for Careers Day starting at 8:15 am, with expert presenters providing insights on varying career paths and educational linkages.
A community forum involving question-and-answer interaction between the “STETHS family” and the wider community is set for Tuesday, starting at 6:30 pm in the school’s auditorium.
On Wednesday, members of the STETHS fraternity, including alumni and guests, will be part of a “VIP tour” embracing such attractions as the Black River Safari (boat tour of the Black River), the Appleton Estate Rum tour, YS Falls and others.
The graduation ceremony for the STETHS “class of 2022” is set for Thursday, starting at 3:00pm.
Friday will involve fun and sports at STETHS with past students indulging in football, cricket and other games, alongside light entertainment for children and adults.
Reunion Week closes on Saturday, July 2. First there will be a fundraising 5K Run/Walk through the streets of Santa Cruz and the school campus starting at 5:30 am. A Diamond Reunion Jubilee Banquet starting at 6:00pm Saturday night, featuring a “Jamaica style dinner under the stars” aimed at raising funds for the school, will formally close the week’s activities.
