Suspect identified in murder of three Jamaicans in Queens

NEW YORK, United States — Police investigators in New York have named a suspect in the killing of three Jamaicans whose decomposed bodies were found last Friday at their South Jamaica home in Queens.

He has been identified as 29-year-old Travis Blake.

The New York Police Department (NYPD) released a photograph of the man on Wednesday.

“The above individual was last seen walking northbound on 155 Street from the incident location wearing a white T-shirt and black pants,” the police said, adding that Blake is “considered armed and dangerous” and persons should approach with caution.

The victims of the killings were identified by relatives as 55-year-old Karleen Barnett; her son, Dervon Brightly, 35; and a family friend Varshanna “Brittany” Malcolm, 22, who is believed to have been visiting.

All three victims were found with multiple stab wounds inside the single-family house, police sources and media reports said.

Blake was allegedly dating Barnett, according to a report from the New York Post on Wednesday.

Malcolm, during a telephone conversation with her brother last Wednesday, had said Blake had stopped by the home to “pick up his property”, police and other sources told New York Post.

Police have not yet determined a motive.

Meanwhile, the NYPD is appealing to persons for information leading to the arrest of Blake.
