Reggae artiste Rising Sun has dropped the single Mansa Musa ahead of the August release of his self-titled album.

Released last month, Mansa Musa was produced by Vic Law Records and Afrobeat Masters.

“I had the riddim for over a year. I wrote a few other songs to it, but for some reason this one spoke to me more. Whenever I listen to the riddim, I keep hearing Mansa Musa. So I just followed through with it. So I guess that the inspiration for the song came from the riddim itself,” Rising Sun explained.

Said Rising Sun, “I am encouraged by the feedback that the song has received and I give thanks for that. It’s a good look.”

Rising Sun, who resides overseas, is originally from August Town.

“I’m from August Town, my mother and father were originally 12 Tribes of Israel members who lived in Dread Heights in those days,” he recalled.

He said his passion for music developed from an early age, and since he began to pursue music professionally, he has worked with a handful of producers. His self-titled album is to be released by The Rising Sun Music Group.

“My journey in music has been a long and hard one. But just like most things in life, you gotta go get it if you want it. I’m just happy to be alive where I can still fulfil my dream,” said Rising Sun.

He describes himself as an electrifying performing artist, one who delivers high-energy performances. Born O’Neil Morrison, he attended Oberlin High School shortly before he migrated to the United States.

Music has always been a part of Rising Sun’s life. From his early high school days with Dynex Sound System before moving onto the Hell Razor Sound.

At the beginning of his career he collaborated with Blondie Billions to create Billionaire Entertainment Magazine. As the co-founder of Billionaire Entertainment Magazine, Rising Sun was inspired to develop Promotions R us and StreetVybzTV, his promotional street team and media group respectively.
