For newcomer Biggs Don, his popular track Bwoii Affi has truly changed his fortunes.

The song, which is a blend of four songs, was produced by Steel Chest of Outta Space Records and officially released three weeks ago racking up more than 2.1 million views on YouTube.

“It’s like four different songs put together. It was actually a freestyle with songs that I recorded between 2019 and 2021. When I wrote the songs, there was a vibe at the time. But I give thanks to the viral video that put the spotlight on the song,” Biggs Don disclosed in an interview with the Jamaica Observer.

Biggs Don has been in demand since the chart-topping Bwoii Affi took off. His most recent performances were at Soca Nawmal (held at Sabina Park) and Meech Lifestyle (held in Mandeville). Both took place on July 9.

In June, the 18 year-old did his first overseas performance in Guyana.

“Guyana was my first time performing outside of Jamaica and it was a good experience. I did two shows there and it’s a totally different type of audience,” he said.

Eager to escape the one-hit wonder tag, his forthcoming songs include Biggs Rock which is produced by Di Truth Records.

“I want to be an international artiste and show the world that I can do this. The path that Skillibeng is heading to right now, that’s the path that I want to go,” said Biggs Don, who has had a passion for music since his years at Porus High School in his native Manchester.

“The first person who encouraged me to become an artiste was my friend Bya and when I started going to high school, another friend Prezzi, who wrote songs, also encouraged me. It was from 2019 I decided that music was what I wanted to do and since then I never stopped,” said Biggs Don, who was born Jamaal Thompson.

After graduating from Porus High, he attended the HEART Trust/NTA where he studied to become a chef. After completing Level II certification, he dropped out to focus on music.

“Everything that I ever wanted to achieve, I am achieving right now. I am working with a lot of producers, [and] my family is also very supportive of what I am doing (his father Shane is his road manager). When I started doing music in 2019, I never knew it would’ve come to this but here I am now. Back then, I was just voicing songs and putting out songs on rhythms, but I didn’t know anything about music, really. I was just trying,” Biggs Don stated.
