The redemption of Kevin Heath
Even though there is overwhelming demand for secular music, gospel artiste Kevin Heath remains encouraged that fans still have an appreciation for the genre.
“I do believe that people still need to hear and be reassured that Jesus is still able to redeem,” he told the Jamaica Observer‘s Splash.
Heath, who hails from St Elizabeth, releases his newest track today. Produced by Fitzroy Green, the song, titled My Redeemer, is based on his life experiences, and Heath has high expectations for the single.
“The inspiration came from my experiences in life and the fact that God is always there to redeem me. I hope that it will serve as a reminder and a motivator to each person and that it will minister to them the redemptive power of Jesus Christ,” he noted.
Heath has shared stage with a number of artistes, such as Clifford Henry, Jermaine Edwards, Rondell Positive, Carlene Davis, DJ Nicholas, Papa San, Lieutenant Stitchie, and Kevin Downswell. He has performed at Fun in The Son (the Jamaican and New York editions), Denbigh, Godsplash and Jamaica’s Independence Celebration.
He hopes to collaborate with some of his established colleagues, at some point.
“At the moment, I would love to collaborate with DJ Nicholas and Papa San, and hopefully in the near future as God’s will there will be other ministers that I will collaborate with,” said Heath.
Producing gospel music is his long-term mission.
“In five years, I see myself doing more recording, making more inspiring and uplifting gospel music that will resonate with people and give them hope as they navigate and journey through life. I also hope to be touring and taking the gospel to the four corners of the earth,” Heath stated.
