#WorldChamps: No Jamaicans to contest Men’s 200M Final
EUGENE, Oregon- For the first time in over a decade, no Jamaican will line up in the final of the men’s 200 metres at the Oregon World Championships.
Rasheed Dwyer, the lone Jamaican in the event, faced the starter in semi-final three and had to settle for an eighth place finish in a time of 20.87 seconds. His race was won by the world leader, Erryon Knighton of the United States, who clocked a new World Under-20 record of 19.77 seconds.
Meanwhile, Yohan Blake, the other Jamaican scheduled to compete in the event, withdrew from the semi-finals due to a swollen right foot. However, reports have emerged that he is expected to make a full recovery and will be allowed to contest the men’s 4×100 metres relay.
The final of the men’s 200 metres will take place on Thursday, July 21 at 9:50pm Jamaica time.
