Soca Nawmal was a hit
WRAY and Nephew ‘Soca Nawmal’, which took place on Saturday, July 9, has been described as a success, according to promoters 3Peat Entertainment.
Held at Sabina Park on South Camp Road in Kingston, it featured performances from the likes of Biggs Don, Marksman, Laa Lee, Brysco, Trinidadian soca artiste Yung Bredda, Lincoln 3Dot, and newcomer Nervz.
Toushane Green is a member of 3Peat Entertainment.
“The turnout was way beyond our expectations. It was nothing ‘nawmal’. The overall vibe was epic,” Green told the Jamaica Observer.
The event comprised a blend of soca and dancehall music that kept patrons on a musical high.
“For me, the highlight of the event was Yung Bredda’s performance. The performances were timely choreographed from start to finish. Patrons were excited to see the artistes, who left them wanting more. Overall, all the artistes delivered,” Green disclosed.
DJs Scrappy, Cyclone, Franco, and Brush1 set the crowd alight with their musical arsenal. A bit of EDM was injected in the proceedings courtesy of DJ Tyler.
Said Green, “Our objectives were met and, overall, exceeded expectations.”
This was the first staging of Soca Nawmal. The promoters are planning on making this an annual event, just before the staging of Jamaica’s carnival road march next year.
