TWO Jamaicans wanted in the United States on drug-related offences will face the courts in extradition hearings in August and September.

An August 2 court date has been set for Hugh Fraser, 60, of Westgate Hills in Montego Bay, St James, while 50-year-old Anthony Daniels is scheduled to appear on September 14. Both are on charges related to the alleged distribution of five kilogrammes of cocaine in Pennsylvania, United States.

On Friday the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions was given time to provide details of the provisional extradition orders for both men.

Fraser and Daniels were among four people arrested in Montego Bay, St James, on Wednesday in a predawn operation which involved both local and overseas law enforcement agencies, in what was called Operation Clean Sweep.

In five simultaneous raids in Montego Bay, Kingston and St Andrew, law enforcers seized six motor vehicles, including two Mercedes Benz, a Toyota Tacoma, a Honda CR-V and a BMW. They also seized laptops, tablet computers, 19 cellphones, 28 SIM cards, a licensed Glock pistol, 132 live rounds of ammunition, and large quantities of cash. The cash amounted to more than $10.5 million.

Following the arrests and seizure, Jamaicans were encouraged to use tip lines, online portals, and social media pages to report what they know about organised crime, including drugs and weapons trafficking, and lottery scamming.
