Chapelton Maroons fly into Premier League

DRAX HALL, St Ann — Chapelton Maroons of Clarendon will join Faulkland FC of St James as the promoted teams in the Jamaica Premier League next season after beating Treasure Beach FC 4-2 in their rescheduled return-leg semi-finals at Drax Hall on Wednesday.

Chapelton Maroons came from two goals down on Wednesday to win the tie 6-3 on aggregate after they had won the first leg played a week earlier 2-1.

Chapelton and Faulkland FC will meet in the final set for Sunday at Drax Hall.

Faulkland FC had booked their spot in the final on Sunday, beating Falmouth United 4-3 on penalties after they had played out a 1-1 draw in regulation and extra time and ended on a 1-1 aggregate.

It was a third win for Chapelton over Treasure Beach this season after beating them 3-1 in the first match day, and after leading 2-1 from the first leg of the semi-finals, found themselves trailing 2-3 midway the first half on Wednesday after Jovaughn Williams in the eighth minute and Anfernee Stewart in the 23rd minute scored for Treasure Beach FC.

The Clarendon-based team hit back with four goals in 17 minutes, Kaheim Dixon bagged a brace, bringing his team level on aggregate in the 28th minute and restored their lead 4-3 in the 39th minute.

Devonti Hodges made it 5-3 on aggregate in the 43rd minute and Malachi Douglas added a sixth goal in time added in the first half.

On Sunday, Faulkland FC and Falmouth United played out a 1-1 scoreline, their third draw for the season and the game had to be decided on penalties.

O’Brien Robinson had given Faulkland FC the lead in the 24th minute before Kemar Reid equalised in the 90th minute after 30 minutes of extra time failed to break the deadlock, the game was decided from the penalty spot.
