Senior citizens fight over money, one arrested
CLARENDON, Jamaica — There was high drama at Corn Piece Settlement in Hayes, Clarendon, on Thursday as two golden agers got into a fist-fight following an argument about money.
At the end of the melee, which left both parties with minor bruises, one of the senior citizens was arrested and charged by the police.
Charged with malicious destruction of property is 75-year-old Lester Daley, a pensioner from the community. The 73-year-old man, with whom he had the altercation, is also from the area.
It is reported that about 8:15 am, both men had an argument concerning money that was owed to Daley but was not forthcoming.
The police said the argument got heated and eventually turned physical. It is alleged that Daley grabbed onto the shirt of the 73-year-old man causing it to be torn. The shirt was reportedly valued at $1000.
The man made a report to the police and following investigations, Daley was arrested and subsequently charged.
