KINGSTON, Jamaica — Jamaica on Saturday recorded 131 new cases of COVID-19 and one more virus-related death in the last 24 hours, bringing the total confirmed cases to 146,372 and the death toll to 3,194.

Of the newly reported cases, there were 87 females and 44 males — with ages ranging from one month to 94 years.

The new cases were recorded in St James (25), Kingston and St Andrew (42), St Ann (two), Westmoreland (three), Clarendon (six), St Catherine (29), Manchester (five), Trelawny (one) and St Thomas (six), Hanover (three), St Mary (one) and Portland (eight).

St Elizabeth was the only parish that recorded no new cases.

Meanwhile, the latest fatality is a 52-year-old female from St Catherine who died in August 2021.

According to the latest statistics from the Ministry of Health and Wellness, the country also recorded 89 recoveries, for a total of 93,827.

There are 1,328 active cases of COVID-19 on the island.

The positivity rate for the latest round of testing now stands at 24 per cent.

Currently, 101 people are hospitalised with four being critically ill.
