87 new COVID-19 cases in Jamaica, one death reported
KINGSTON, Jamaica – The Ministry of Health and Wellness reported 87 new COVID-19 cases and one death on Wednesday, August 3, bringing the infection total to 146,695 and total deaths to 3,199.
The new cases comprise 50 females and 37 males, with ages ranging from four months to 100 years.
The cases were recorded in Kingston and St Andrew (34), St Catherine (29), Trelawny (nine), Westmoreland (seven), Clarendon (three), Manchester and St James (two each), and St Ann (one)
The deceased is a 92-year-old female from St Ann who died in July 2022. The case was previously under investigation.
There were 136 recoveries in the last 24 hours, bringing the total to 94,154.
Currently, 104 people are hospitalised, 22 of whom are moderately ill, seven severely ill and four critically ill.
Jamaica’s positivity rate for the latest round of testing is 33.5 per cent.
